Here is what the official website says it is…

eComStation is the operating system of today!

eComStation is a highly efficient operating system that truly flies on today’s powerful computers, and works great on legacy hardware. The minimal resource requirements extend the life of your IT environment, offering a greater return on your investment in computer hardware.

eComStation interoperates with Windows, Linux and NetWare. It also offers excellent compatibility with DOS, Java and OS/2 applications. You can safely share your ADSL, cable or ISDN Internet connection with up to 253 PCs by using the built-in firewall. And, all of this comes packaged with an easy to use GUI.

eComStation installs directly from CD on modern hardware like AMD Athlon64 based computers, large IDE and SATA harddrives and supports a host of network-, sound- and videocards out of the box

eComStation is fully OS/2 compatible and will run your existing OS/2 applications!

I’ve been using ecomstation off and on now for about 2 years. I seem to be the only person in the world who has taken up eCS after OS/2 died.

Why did I start using eCS? Well the answer is simple… I love operating systems and eCS is another one to use and play with.

Here are a couple of links to related eCS sites:

You can also find eCS on IRC (internet relay chat) by connecting to the irc.ecomstation.com server.

Here’s a video I made a while back to help promote eComStation. It’s quite choppy because it was made on my old PC while running in a virtual machine but it still does a decent job of showing some of the features.

Here is another video I made of eComStation. This time it’s version 2.0 RC4
